Angelic Fire
ANGELIC FIRE:
This song comes from 3 Nephi 11-18 and focuses on the experience of someone in the crowd seeing the Savior for the first time and experiencing the miracles that she saw. The focus of this song is on Jesus' ministering to the people one by one and how that experience would change a person.
To write this song, I pulled from a dream I once had where I met Jesus himself. It was an experience that continues to change my perception of myself and others. To see myself through the eyes of the Christ and know that He sees all His children the same way is life changing.
You would think that in the presence of deity, you would be filled with all the guilt of everything you've done wrong. And even though the shame would be washed away through Him, maybe because the shame is washed away, you expect to feel gratitude and bath His feet with your tears. But that is only a twisted version of the truth.
It has nothing to do with shame and guilt. Those words only exist to please Satan. There is no shame or guilt in Christ. He swallows it all in one breath. So why do I feel gratitude before Him so that I bathe his feet in my tears? It is because his love is so great and powerful, that there is nothing left in his presence but love and gratitude. I did my best to convey this feeling in this song.
The Nephite woman who's story was sung in the darkness and who showed her faith and endurance in "Gather Me" is now on the brink of the crowd. Jesus descends to the earth and ministers to everyone "one by one." This woman who endured the darkness of life is now enveloped in His light. He see's her and comes to her. It is as though there is no one else in the crowd that He would rather see. That's how special the gaze of the Lord feels to everyone who he approaches. And that's what this song is about.
I kept the same voice as Gather Me and with a similar intimacy of the song Halleluiah but a brighter theme. But this time it was in a major key to let you know that the emotion here is joy and wonder.
