BURNING HEART:

This song comes from Alma 20 & 22. In chapter 20, Ammon is called by God to go free his brothers. Lamoni goes with him, hoping to be of assistance. They run into Lamoni's dad who questions him about a celebration that he missed. Lamoni begins to explain, but then his father see's Ammon and is enraged. But he doesn't try to kill Ammon, he raises his sword directly at his own son.

Ammon jumps in, quick to protect Lamoni and disarms the king. He chastises the king for attempting to kill his son and warns him of the hell that awaits him if he doesn't repent. Lamoni's father is amazed that Ammon was willing to risk his own life and is further astonished that Ammon didn't take advantage of the opportunity to take over the kingdom. He simply requested that Lamoni be free to govern how he wants to govern and for the king's permission to free his brothers. So he asks Ammon to come visit him when he gets back from his quest.

Ammon does not go to the king, but his brothers do. The king questions them about Ammon, but consents to Aaron teaching him. He too is converted in the same manner as Lamoni (falling to the ground as if he were dead; see Change of Heart). But the queen thinks they cursed her husband and wants them dead, so Aaron wakes the king and he settles the matter.

The father of Lamoni was clearly much more hardcore than Lamoni was. He was more hateful and wicked than his son. And when he was converted, he became the most peaceful and loving person, willing to sacrifice his own life than to hurt another being. Two very powerful extremes. That's why I took him to the extreme of rock n' roll and picked heavy metal to represent him. Metallica was the band I patterned his song from and I think it reflects the story well.
