SACRED POWER:

This song comes from Helaman 5-10. It was intended to reflect chapters 7 & 10. In chapter 7, Nephi is praying on his tower, lamenting the wickedness of his people. Chapter 10 reflects a promise that the Lord makes with Nephi that whatever he seals on earth will be sealed in heaven. He also gives him power over the elements because of his righteousness, God trusts that he would never ask for anything that is contrary to His will.

Nephi and his brother Lehi were sons of Helaman the second. They were named after their first fathers who crossed the great waters as a reminder of the goodness of God. They were a powerful missionary duo who preached among the Nephites and Lamanites. They were falsely accused, imprisoned, and rejected, and they also performed many miracles. During their time, the Lamanites became more righteous than the Nephites who had embraced the Gadianton way.

I wanted to use this song to point out that those who put their trust in God and make righteous choices are upheld and protected by Him. And by your faith, you can do all things. But for the greatest promises of God, faith must be coupled with faithfulness.

Even though the promise that God made in chapter 10 was directed at Nephi, I wanted to include Lehi in this song. This was written as if the two brothers were having a conversation, recounting their sacrifices and the resulting promise from the Lord.

I originally wanted this to be a duet, but I had trouble differentiating between the two male voices in this and thought it turned out good already. It's funny because I intended for this song to have more gusto, like "Rolling Stones" by Lauren Daigle, but it was meant to be soft an beautiful. I couldn't get anything else to work.
