WE STAND BOLD:

This song comes from 3 Nephi 3-4. The righteous Lamanites join the Nephites. Their common enemy was robbers of Gadianton (remember these guys from the song "Cleanse the Inner Vessel?" The people of Gadianton had spread across the land. The righteous Lamanites had rejected them and hunted them out, but the Nephites had embraced them until this time). The leader of the Gadianton Robbers sends a letter to the Nephite leader Lachoneus (a righteous man), demanding that he join them or die. Lachoneus gathers all the people together in one body. They gather up all their crops and herds, leave nothing for the bandits and fortify themselves.

They built one solid wall all the way around themselves and set guards to protect the walls. But they didn't rely on the walls to protect them, they relied on God to protect them. Lachoneus and the military leader, Gidgiddoni admonish the people to pray for protection and support.

When the Gadianton robbers come in full attack against their fortifications, the Nephite and Lamanite people fall to their knees. The Gadiantons think that the people fell out of fear and get excited, but they were kneeling in prayer. God protected them. They won the battle and eventually the war.

This song is about acting by faith and doing everything you can, but ultimately trusting that God will fight our battles for us. David ran toward Goliath. Nephi build a ship. Moses led his people to the water's edge. And these people built walls. But God did the heavy lifting on all of these scenarios.

I thought that I would use "Stressed Out" by Twenty One Pilots to pattern this song. And though the prompt I put in for the music of this piece was in line with Stressed Out, the song ended up taking on a voice of its own. I like this song the way it is and decided not to try too hard to match the voice of Twenty One Pilots.
